The Bishop Gravatt Center

The facilities have been designed with our guests' comfort in mind. Bishop Cole Lodge, the Cottages, Stewart Dining Hall, and the beautiful, pastoral surroundings combine to make for a rewarding, pleasant stay. Guests can let go of the busy schedules of their daily lives and focus on the goals of their conference or retreat, enriched by the secure, comfortable, and calming atmosphere of a place apart.

Accommodations
Every room is fully climate-controlled and sound-proofed to ensure privacy. Overnight accommodations include our 12 lodge rooms, all of which have two double beds and private baths (additional cot available); and our 16 cottage rooms, which each feature two twin beds. Each pair of cottage rooms share a bath, so that the layout of the two rooms is like that of a suite.

Want a more rustic experience?  Camp Gravatt is available for reservation by groups when camp is not in session.  Use of Camp Gravatt is recommended August through October and mid-March through May, as tents, cabins and bathrooms are not winterized.

Meeting Facilities
Four meeting areas are available a the Conference Center - the Cole Lodge Lounge, two small group meeting rooms in the Cottages, Stewart Dining Hall, and the Chapel of the Transfiguration.  Groups staying at Camp Gravatt may use the Pavilion, Beckam Hall, or Collet Dining Hall for meeting and dining.

Cole Lodge Lounge comes fully equipped with coffee service, refrigerator, an ice maker, and a fire place. This room will comfortably accommodate up to 25 people.  The meeting rooms in the Cottages are appropriate for small group sessions, and Stewart Dining Hall can handle a larger group for meetings or dining.  All rooms can be configured to a group's requirements.  Standard conference materials are available as well, including easels flip charts of newsprint, markers, and tape; TV/VCR, and overhead projector. Some materials may require and additional fee.

Dining
Perhaps the best-remembered feature of a guest's visit are the delicious meals that are served in our dining hall.  Dinners are typically served "family style," with generous helpings available, while lunches and breakfasts are more often buffet or cafeteria style, with hot and cold options available at every meal. Staff members are well-trained in making sure that every guest's needs are met. Our commitment is always to provide our guests with genuine hospitality and to ensure their comfort.

A typical breakfast may include scrambled eggs, buttered grits, bacon or sausage, fluffy biscuits with assorted jellies, assorted fruits, orange juice, coffee, and water.  A typical lunch may include grilled chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato and onion, baked potato with assorted toppings, green beans, salad bar, brownies, lemonade, coffee, and water.  A typical dinner may include glazed ham, homemade macaroni and cheese, collard greens, cornbread, salad bar, peach cobbler with icecream, sweet tea, coffee, and water.
